While we do not have a 97 day rule here, teachers can be let go here without recourse if they miss more than fifteen days in a non tenure year. There is nothing even the union can do and we have a strong union.

Even though you do not belong to a union, you can still call the local union office and ask for their advice.

If you do not go back to your district, try to find a district that hires from their sub list and sub there. The pay is not great, but if they keep calling you, you know that you will eventually get a full time job. There are districts that hire from the sub list, I work in one and that is how I got my job.
