Clip to ScrapBook
I teach at a really poor school, plus I am a special ed resource teacher so it is rare that the parents get me a gift...I can't say I have any "worst gifts" but my best so far was a gift from a student I worked with for the
past 3 years. The first year I had him we worked on teaching him to act human- he would crawl into his backpack or any other small space and growl, scratch and bite if you cam near him- he had almost no language....the 2nd and third year we still worked on behaviors but also reading and writing (I seriously wondered at times if I was getting anywhere....) This year he gave me a card that
he had made by folder paper into elaborate shapes and written a letter thanking me for helping him so much and wishing me a merry christmas. He did it all on his own, it is wonderful, and I could read every word on it- I couldn't help but get tears in my eyes realizing how far he has come, but also for the fact that HE realizes how far he has come (and how much work it took to get him there)- that was my absolutly best gift ever!
