Parenting vs. Teaching By Kristine

I strongly believe that there is a big difference between parenting and teaching. Although I feel the two are somewhat unrelated, there is something that I feel is related. Being a parent does not make you a better teacher| as was said in previous vent posts. However, I feel that teaching can improve your parenting skills. I have seen so many sad cases within the families of students that I have had. I now realize that when I do become a parent, I will treasure what I have a home and appreciate my children. I see things all the time that I say, I will never do that to my child. I think teachers have | | a big advantage when it comes to becoming a parent. They learn things about raising a family.Of course we all have problem parents and yes, we are allowed to vent about them because some are quite unbearable. That does not make us bad teachers, especially if we do not have children of our own. It wouldn't matter if I did have my own children, it wouldn't change my perspective. How can we defend parents who are "out to get the teacher?" What has been said previously is that if we had children we would understand the parents' complaints. Absolutely not. Sometimes the parents are just wrong, no excuses should be made. I am sorry if I offended anyone. I am just being honest.
