I teach at a k-12
By AmberM

Clip to ScrapBook
All students can be paddled here in Louisiana.
The reason that paddles are supplied to the teacher in each classroom is that they are different sizes. Starting at 6th grade the paddle is wider and made of a thicker wood.
From
junior high on the students are given the choice of paddle or suspension. Maybe this is where our regional culture really shows because the junior high and high school students most often choose to take the three swats, rather than the suspension.
Oh, there are the rules:
Can not paddle in front of other students
Have to have a witness
No more than three swats ( although
if there is not a change of behavior they can be given as many sets of three swats as needed as long as there is some time between for the student to show improvement.)
Male can not paddle a female student over the fifth grade.
