Do you have access to computers? Here is a really neat web site that allows students to manipulate base 10 materials on the computer screen.

There is a lariat for grouping and a hammer to break up the 10s and 100s. My grade 2/3 class loved it last year. It was just like "playing" on the computer to them, and they stayed on task well. It took me a few minutes to read the directions and figure out how it worked, but I really feel it is worth a look. Hope this helps.
