Some of my favorite mysteries
By vana

Clip to ScrapBook
I love to do mysteries with 4th graders in January when the weather is cold and it is time to curl up with a good book. These are some of my students favorites in the past:
For lower readers cloer to the third grade level
Encyclopedia
Brown series by Donal Sobol. Several short mysteries in each book.

Smiffy Blue - by Walter Dean Myers funny bungling hero

For fourth grade readers.
Tne Bunnicula sereies by Debora Howe (or maybe it is her hubby James Howe - I don't remember for sure right now)

Herculeah Jones Mystery Series by Betsy Byar - These might be nice because the main character is

female.

The Light on Hogback Hill by Cynthia De Felice Again a female hero. She has a couple of other titles The Ghost of Fossil Glen and a follow up that is on the Children's Choice list this year. I can't remember the title. These are challenging for many fourth grade students.

Hope this helps!
