As a student, you should NEVER be allowed to be alone with students without the classroom teacher (or other certified staff) around. This is not to insult or demean you, but rather it is in regards to liability issues should anything ever occur. As a newer teacher, I remember being told in college the very strict guildlines regarding this issue. Even student teachers were not allowed to have students without the classroom teacher there! I would for sure bring it up to the classroom teacher so she can make notes in her plans for future subs and as the above poster said, make sure you somehow make it known to a sub what your limitations are! You wouldn't want to find yourself in a negative stituation before you even get your license!!
