I agree that it seems outrageous that your job could be at risk because of who you are dating, especially since you are in a public school and it isn't really anyone's business. I also think it would be a good idea to consult an attorney and your union, especially if you fear losing your chance at tenure for something other than your teaching ability.

This probably won't help, but having moved from Chicago to a smaller town, my husband (also a teacher) and I have experienced the change from anonymity to everyone knowing your business or feeling it is their right/duty to know what you are doing at all times. So frustrating! I'm sorry for you! =)
