Christmas celebrations
By Newbie

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach at a private school that is not affiliated with a specific religion, but we are still allowed to decorate for Christmas and talk about it. I have students from many different backgrounds, but most of them are Christian,
and this coming week we are going to do a lesson about how Christmas is celebrated around the world. I teach 6th grade history, which is world history at my school, and I think it's important for them to realize that not everyone celebrates Christmas in the same way.

I thought it was interesting how someone mentioned that the Druids started some of the first celebrations that

are now part of our Christmas. Even though Christians recognize the birth of Jesus at this time, there has been some proof that Christ was not even born during this time of year. Not that Christians shouldn't celebrate the way they want, but Christmas represents a time of giving and goodwill, even for those who aren't Christian.
