Los Posadas
By Rosemary

Clip to ScrapBook
I think making pointsettas is a fantastic idea. Have you read Night of Los Posadas by Tomie DePaola? We use it when we teach our Christmas unit. It is a lovely book but it is explicitly religious because Los Posadas is a nativity procession. I am not sure from your post whether you teach in a public school where it would be considered inappropriate. I teach Catholic school and we would do the procession with the children playing the different roles and knocking on the doors of the classrooms throughout the building asking for shelter. After the procession we would have mexican style hot chocolate (which just has cinnamon on top). Then we hang up the pinata and the kids take a whack at it.
