I usually stay out of things but....
By not christian

Clip to ScrapBook
As a non Christian I try to stay out of religious discussions, but I had to jump in on this one.

The way I see the seperation of church and state is like this....you can not preach or expect your students to follow your
religion- that doesn't mean religion can not be discussed in the classroom. You can not teach history or a bunch of other social studies without including something about religion. I just think you should let your kids know that there are many different people and beliefs out there and they should have some knowledge of other religions.... so (I'm really NOT trying to be nasty) they don't
grow up believing like a previous poster suggested.... that a Holiday like Christmas is truly a Christian holiday. Christmas was celebrated by many different people under many different names prior to the birth of Christ. It was a celebration of the winter solstice and the rebirth of the sun- the church had a difficult time getting people to stop celebrating their "pagan" ways so they chanded it from celebrating the rebirth of the sun, to the birth of the "son of god".

As for non christians celebrating Christian holidays...non christians do not get days off for their holidays, WHY can't we use yours?
