Parent participation is needed
By Chrissy

Clip to ScrapBook
I can't believe these parents feel that at the kindergarten level, she should only be learning to color in the lines; that is ridiculous. Do they know what the kindergarten curriculum entails? Maybe the problem is that
she is only there one day a week. What does the administration think about this? May I ask what type of school you work for? It doesn't sound like a public school.

The parents need to be shown that they are the problem here, not you and certainly not their daughter. I would try talking to them again or have someone in a higher position (again, I do not know where you work) call them

in for a conference. Their child should be their first priority and that includes finding a way to fix the car and get her to school. If she continues on this route, it doesn't sound like she will be ready for first grade.

Have you tried explaining to them what is expected of a K student everywhere else, that it's not just what you expect? I feel so bad for you. It is a shame that there are people out there like this. These types of parents are the reason why so many children are having difficulties. Children need their parents to instill confidence in them before they can be willing to become confident on their own. Please keep us updated.
