We read all the Judy Moody books, The Series of Unfortunate Events (there are 11 now), Spiderwick series, and Terry Pratchett's "Truckers"

"Truckers, Diggers and Wings" is a LONG book (about 500 pages). It was originally written in the UK as a trilogy of books, and then combined into one in the US. We only got through the "Truckers" part; however, because I kept having to stop and explain the English terminology. The kids did enjoy it though, and they learned some terms they'd have probably not otherwise learned.. :-)
