Flat Stanley
By maria

Clip to ScrapBook
Grade 2:
After we read Flat Stanley we take a picture of everyone in the class separately. After developed, we just cut the head out and give the students a generic shaped body and they make cut out clothes with construcion
paper and dress up this flat student. Now we personalize it and glue their face on the body!!! The student is now flattened like Stanley. The parents send the flattened version of their child to anyone who will entertain their flat child, take some pictures and send them back within a couple of months. We get the greatest responses. The flattened students have been sent to celebrities
and all the different continents. When they are sent back they usually come with some sort of treat or souveniers for the class.
Now, we write stories about our adventures and publish them in a hardcover book along with a collage of the pictures and the Flat Student. It is a super project. Lots of work, however the parents and children are thrilled with the entire process.
