Texas Tests
By tami

Clip to ScrapBook
I live near Dallas/Ft. Worth, and while I can't help you with El Paso, I can tell you about testing.

Our state test TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) is given in all grades 3 thru 11. Math and reading are tested at all levels, with others such as writing, science, etc. thrown in along the way. Third graders are required to pass reading for promotion; fifth graders are required to pass reading and math for promotion; and end of course exams are required for high school graduation.

For more information and to see samples of the test, testing schedules, etc. visit the TEA webiste, www.tea.state.tx.us.

For information on certification, go to the SBEC (State Certification) website at www.sbec.state.tx.us

Hope that helps... :-)
