In response to your comment that common school management techniques are removed from the adult world, you're absolutely right. School IS different from work, so I would expect the system to be different.
If I don't
perform my duties to the satisfaction of my boss, I can be fired or reassigned. That's a consequence for me. I can't fire or reassign my students (not that I'd want to most days ) There's no recess during the workday. If I don't get my work done during the day, I have to put in extra time, since my boss can't take away my recess time. I don't get grades at work either. The systems
work differently, because we can't hold children to adult standards and consequences at these young ages. If checkmarks or color flips or taking some recess times works for some teachers' classroom management, I say good for them!
