(I thought you original question was to share our opinion about whether to use recess as a punishment.) - wasn't it?

To the time out thing, i don't use it. I teach kindergarten and it's not appropriate or effective at the kindergarten level. As far as quick fix thing - there is none. THere are a whole host of things such as curricular expectations, age expectations, room set up, scheduling, etc. It takes quite a bit of time. If you want a great disicpline book - use punished by rewards by alfie kohn
