Done that now what?
By Rainbow

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach third. I have talked with the student about the importance of getting the work done (VERY capable student and challenged--not bored!!) I have talked with the parent. "I'll have a talk with him/her". Nothing changes.
Talking does no good.

I don't give out stickers for just anything! I don't give out rewards for doing what you should do in the first place.(Ofcourse if there is an IEP for some behav. mods, then I will). I do give stickers to students that have gone beyond to learn, tried hard to improve, etc.

I agree with some other posters that if I piddle around and don't get my things

done, I have to do them later on my own time. I expect that of my students too.

I don't have time to talk to "Little Tommy" EVERY day about the same thing! This is taking MORE time on top of his piddling away from my other students. I am there for ALL my students not just this one that won't do his work! I agree that if what I am doing is not helping and they are still not doing what they should, my system is not working. Talking is NOT working. Now what do I do?

I really would like some suggestions on this because I don't know what else to try. Talking does NOT work on some--namely a very capable student who is NOT bored and is challenged enough. Now what?
