I can't believe you have to call your own subs, either! That's really not cool and quite unusual.
As a sub, I would like to say that I definitely try to go to all sub jobs, but I sometimes cannot. I have doctor and
dentist appts and things like that, and I am on sub lists on three school divisions. I DO make it a point to thank the caller and tell them to try again. I am cautious about saying I have another sub job, because I have had people in school divisions tell me they would not call me if I was working for another division! Honestly! Like I am some traitor or something!
Also, I wanted
to note that I sometimes miss calls when I am showering or stepped out. My divisions are wierd, though. I have gotten calls at ALL times of the day, including 8 on a Saturday night! I never know WHEN to stay home. It seemed to me before that divisions tried to call in the morning or after school, so that was when I tried to be available. Now I'm getting calls at 11 and at 1 and at 2 - you name it. I DO make a point of calling the school back, though, and letting them know I had just stepped out or whatever. Like I said, I WANT those jobs.
I know you meant nothing bad about subs, like you said. I just wanted to tell you that there ARE people out there who REALLY do want to sub, and I hope you get ahold of one next time.
