In defense of subs, some of them only want to work part time, and so if they don't choose to work a particular day that is their prerogative. And how do you know they didn't have another job? Did you ask? I always said "I've got another commitment", which could have meant another job or an appointment or just a commitment to myself to take the day off.Also, I refused sub calls to certain districts and/or classrooms depending upon the situation I had found there before. I wasn't making enough money to compensate for the grief I had gotten there. I, too, can't believe there are districts who make you call your own sub. Not cool.
