Regrouping
By Susan

Clip to ScrapBook
I use cubes to teach addition with regrouping. I show them how to regroup ten ones as a ten. This helps them to see regrouping. It seems to help to be able to connect the ones. Keep doing a lot of hands on before you have the students try it with just paper and pencil. It takes time for them to understand. They will get it- some sooner than others. Good luck. I am now introducting subtraction with regrouping. This will be a challenge here right before Christmas.
