I came up with 8 ideas :)

Mine always seem to do their best work when:

1. They are going to give it as a gift to someone they love.

2. Get to really publish their writing. I purchase those hardback "bare" books. They LOVE them!!!

3. Food
is also great!

4. They are able to share. Like every Friday have a few kids share what they have written.

5. If I am going to hang it in the hall.

6. Checklists also work great. I give it to them before we even start. They try their hardest to get everything checked off.

7. DEADLINES! Each step of the writing process comes with a deadline. That in itself motivates them

to keep writing.

8. Journals...I get my journal topics from http://www.busyteacherscafe.com.
Go to writing and then click on the month of journal you want. I have them glue it in their journal each new month. They have to make a tic-tac-toe of at least 5 topics. They may choose others if they get finished. I LOVE these. Anything to make my job a little less stressful.
