Gifted?
By Jaime

Clip to ScrapBook
I wonder if it is the giftedness that is causing him not to do the work. What if you gave him something challanging that he was extremely interested in? Perhaps he had a reason to not write a letter to santa... If you
asked him to write a letter to someone he was truely interested in would he do it?

Regardless if he is gifted or not there is a book that I read a few years ago that always sticks in my mind when working with high ability children:

Teaching Gifted Kids in the Regular Classroom: Strategies and Techniques Every Teacher Can Use to Meet the Academic Needs of the Gifted and Talented by

Susan Winebrenner

If you can get this book from the school library or public library I would highly recommend reading it. It might help explain why some of these behaviors could be occuring.
