make sure you have an interesting anticipatory set, give your objectives for the lesson--to the class, not the observer!, something about your lesson is visual, something is hands-on, give children a chance to respond and ask a variety of kids questions (use popsicle sticks or cards), have at least 2-3 grouping situations--whole group discussion, small group brainstorming, partner read..., have a solid closing, review your lesson's objectives. (it always helps me to jot down an outline and "important" stuff i want to make sure i don't forget to say on a 3x5 card since i'm usually a bit nervous)--even though i've taught for 12 years and my principals have all been easy to work for and not "scary" observers! good luck!
