Never had a discipline problem

I am very happy for those of you who have never had a discipline problem which you couldn't handle. I had a class of students with significant behavior issues and an unsupportive principal. No matter what I did, I was told it was wrong. Positive reinforcement, conseqences, etc. I called parents if a child was well-behaved. I tried many things. But with the types of problems and the lack of support, it was torture. Since then, I have a different principal and have not that type of problem again.

My point is that even a good teacher doing the "right things" can have a problem with discipline under certain conditions. Even though we know many different approaches, the kids haven't read those same books.
