Listening
By kasey

Clip to ScrapBook
Are you able to tell whether they are tuning you out, or they have never been taught how to follow directions? There are some great (fun) listening skill curricula out there. They involve coloring this or that, circle this or that, etc. You could actually take a coloring page and make your own. I remember doing an hilarious one as a kid. We were told to read all the directions first, then go back and do the work. It was a list of about 50 items to do. But the last direction was "don't do any of these, just sign your name and turn it in." Really showed who followed directions and who didn't! Bottom line is, listening has to be taught, and a lot of kids aren't required to listen at home.
