It's hard to help when I don't know more about it. I've honestly never heard of this lesson.

In language, when trying to explain to kids how detailed they need to be in giving directions, I ask them to pretend they're giving directions to an alien from space, who just happens to know English.

In math... I'm not sure what you'd do. If I knew why you felt they need to do it or more of the particulars, I could probably come up with something.

It sounds like communication is a vital part of this, but I'm missing the math part, unless there are activities in which they analyze the professor's "data."
