Clip to ScrapBook
Don't be disheartened! I have been teaching K for over 20 years and there are some years that the children are far more active than others. This is one of those years for me....ha. Anyway, something I do which actually
works is taking a coffee can and filling it with clothespins...each one having a child's name on it. I chose one or two clothespins and pin it onto the can, so the children can not see the names. I tell them I will be looking at those children and if those children do a great job they will get a sticker. I make sure the stickers are those that the children in my class really want.....Since
all the children don't know who those selected children are they all try their best to get those stickers. I do a morning pick and then an afternoon pick. I also hand out stars at the end of the day and when the children get 20 stars they are invited out to lunch with me to the local pizzeria. You can also observe how your class is set up. Is it condusive to avenues of talking...etc......Do you have talkers bunched in together? Movement is key and most K's love to help the teacher, so helping out can be coupled with their behavior. Like I said, there are some years that just seem to be a little rougher than others, but you will get through it fine.
