Get paint sticks (stir paint with) for each child.
Should have a hole in the top already. Some places might give them to you free.
Paint to look like a snowman or santa... all white and red at the top where the hole is to look like a hat. Add facial parts: eyes, nose, mouth etc. with paint or marker. Tie ribbon or piece of fabric around the neck part just under face. Add ribbon to hang on tree as an ornament.
They are really cute! Wish I had a picture of one to show you. I have never seen this one done either. Try it!
