Threat
By MJH

Clip to ScrapBook
Make sure that your principal files a restraining order asgainst this parent. This is for your protection even if the child is no longer in your class but for protection for the whole school. Many times when this is reported
to the school board they will send the parent a letter stating that they can no longer be on school property. If they need to pick up their child they have to have an escort.

There is no excuse for a parent to threaten or turn violent on a teacher or anyone. I teach in a large city at an inner city school so I've had teacher friends that this has happened to.

I had a room mate

that was threaten and the teacher association made sure that the parent had a restraining order. The parent threaten a second teachers and was sent to prision for 3 days and fined $500. This is a big deal since our students are from low income families. The three days the parent was in prision she lost welfare benefits for those days and then to have to pay $500 on top of that made it rough for the whole family but it sent a very powerful message that her behavior was unacceptable. The child, who was a dicipline problem, saw and felt the impact of the parent's behavior and showed more respects towards teachers. A very important lesson was learned from the experience.
