Clip to ScrapBook
As I stated, my kids play a big part in our classroom and they have established many rules themselves. I find that they are usually harder with punishments than I ever would be (taking all kinds of privileges away). I tell
them we need to rethink that and we come up with do-able punishments instead. I don't ever have many that miss out on recess (like what was stated that I so freely use). They want to play and they know the rules and consequences. The punishment does fit the "crime". If they use class time for "free time" and not get their work done, or act silly, misbehave, etc. then they have used
up their alotted time for recess.

Kerry said that maybe I wanted Stacia to respond so that I could use what she does. I am an open minded person and we all learn from each other. Is it so wrong to ask what she does use since it seems to really work for her? The recess thing really works for me but I am interested in WHAT others are doing (not just saying they are doing something else, but giving us examples of what works for them.) That is how we learn. But I haven't learned anything that backs up that statement that there are other avenues. I would still LOVE to here you suggestions!
