I posted earlier, and I agree with Leigh - my students WANT to go play with the others at recess, so they generally choose the behavior that will give them that opportunity. I am with K-1, by the way. Maybe it makes a difference. I am not saying that taking away recess is the ONLY choice, just that it is an option. I would still like to hear other options from people who replied.
