I do both junior high and high school. I really do not have difficulty transitioning. In junior high you have to escort them to lunch. High school you don't. Junior high the classes here are about 50 minutes as well as
with the 9th graders at the high school. 10th grade and up the classes are 1 1/2 hours long. There are 4 class periods and one of them is with planning time. At junior high we only take attendance in homeroom, high school = every class. Our high school students wear picture ID's, junior high don't.
I also posted another reply on this subject further down the page about starting
subbing high school. I posted my rules too. Hopefully, that will help you, too. I use the same rules (which I continuously revise) for junior high and high school when applicable.
