Just keep trying. By Out of place

I'm not sure what you men about the backstabbing incidents. Were you backstabbing? If so, you should probably stop that. I just keep quiet when asked opinions about other teachers. I say,"Well, I don't really know him/her,| but they seem ok to me." Or I say,"Why?" and leave it at that. If it was the part of other backstabbers, I would just keep trying if I were you. Ignore the bad news that you heard through the grapevine, and just keep being friendly and open. A simple "Hi! How are you?","How is your day going?", "How was your weekend?", "Are you watching the game tonight?" will let the others know | | you are trying. It's possible that they just don't really know what to talk to you about. After all, you are new, they don't know your interests or pastimes. I feel like the newbie all the time as a sub, and it's very disappointing each day in a new staff room when I am sitting there and nobody talks to me. I usually try to talk to whoever is closest. Sometimes, it works - as a matter of fact, I have conversations regularly at some schools with some teachers. Other times, it doesn't work. You win some, you lose some. Just remember, you have AS MUCH of a right to be there as they do. Good luck!
