Spelling Programs
By Kara

Clip to ScrapBook
My school uses Rebecca Sitton's program. It is really practical. I've used it for the past 3 years. It works on skills for spellers but has 5-6 minilessons each week. The concepts repeat. Many times, I use the mini-lessons during reader's workshop because the concepts overlap.

The test is a cloze word story test so the kids just aren't memorizing words. There are 5 new words introduced each week and the test has 20 words. THe other 15 are sight words from the current year that they've learned and high frequency words from other years.

I'd recommend it.
