para
By Rebecca

Clip to ScrapBook
I understand your frustration. I had a para that bossed me around, stole money from me and would talk the children into calling me names. I teach in am all black school, the para was black and very pregitious she has been
in the school for several years and had a history of physically assaulting another teacher to the point that the courts got involved. Within my first couple of weeks at the school my principal threatened to have me removed if I didn't control my para. So I asked the principal for suggestions. She suggested that I write a lesson plan for the para to follow. So that's what I did, Only
I took it a step further and kept her out of the classroom when I had students in the classroom. The only time I alotted for her to be in the classroom was when the students weren't in the room. Suprisingly my purse was safer and I had less trouble in teaching. Finally she requested to be moved to another classroom which was fine with me. I know it was the whimpy way out but I figure it was my only chance with this para. First year teachers have so much to learn that I just figured she was one thing too many.
