I've heard of that book...
By first grade teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
and I use the thank you one with my class again this year. I may be too strict with my first graders, but I let them know early in the year that they will use good manners in my class and anytime they are with me (lunchroom,
special classes). I use rewards in my class and the thank you rule applies to it too. I know a lot of my kids aren't taught manners at home (I can tell by the way some of them talk back, among other things) so I just look at it as something else I have to teach them. I don't care how old they are, they are capable of being respectful, and I won't tolerate any disrespect.

We just

had a talk Tuesday about rolling their eyes at me and groaning about work. I told them flat out I've had enough and the next person who did that was going straight to the office. My admin is pretty supportive, although all that would probably happen is a stern talking to.
