A+ for Teachers
By Luci

Clip to ScrapBook
I think most teachers feel the same as you do and I sincerely hope you'll feel better soon. Teaching is not the place to be for rewards: praise, money, appreciation, and such. I teach in a middle school (middle to upper class)
where everyone is competitive and "catty." The administration also leaves a lot to be desired. They don't appreciate anything (such as those who put in extra long hours coaching, writing grants, all the extra work on our own time...)

The reward is knowing that we all make a difference in the lives of our students, even though we may never know it.

The sad thing is one of my friends

is a psychiatrist and told me many of his patients are teachers - depressed ones who seek counseling and anti=depressants. I'm not implying that you are depressed or need help at all. I'm just trying to say that I think most teachers are in the same boat.

We are over worked, underpaid and not very much appreciated. Yet, we do the most important job in the world. We are educating and impacting the future leaders of tomorrow. It's a sad attitude that society has about us. We are all dedicated, awesome professionals. The funny thing is, most people say, "You must be crazy to teach! I could NEVER do that!"

I hope you know that you are appreciated and as the posters above said, come back to the message board just to vent.

Hope you feel better.

A. Friend
