Shannon, about Sparkle
By Emma K

Clip to ScrapBook
Here's a version right from this site, though I play it differently - I generally have the students stand right at their desk (far less disruptive than forming a circle in an already crowded classroom) and I don't have the
kids repeat the word before and after spelling. The way I have always played it, the student who thinks he's at the last letter of the word says that letter and ALSO has to remember to say SPARKLE (to indicate that the word is now completely spelled out) and then the student after him or her had to sit down (and of course, any student who gives an incorrect letter also has to sit down).
It is great fun and the kids love it and, as I said, even students who are not strong spellers stand a reasonable chance of succeeding, since they only have to give one letter of the word.
