Well, I was very happy to see a response to my post and anxious to see some constructive ideas to help. I certainly didn't expect to be offended by the poster. Instead of telling me I hadn't done my homework, couldn't you| have offered some advice? Just so you know, I DO understand gifted students. In fact, I have read lots and lot of professional resources on the subject of gifted students in the regular classroom (Winebrenner) and ALL of Carol Ann Tomlinson's books on Differentiated Instruction. I've tried many, many of the ideas in these books with this child. This child is truly unmotivated. | | He is not treated any differently by his peers, and he is not covering up his intelligence. He is very well liked and definately NOT considered odd. He just doesn't want to do any more than he has to do. In fact, his gifted teacher (the "expert" at our school) who he sees twice a week has mentioned the same thing more than once.So....do you have any ideas???
