I have a child similiar to this one in my class. wjat i have done is given him a contract. i found out what he really likes, set up a contract with him that works on two or three areas he is weak in as far as behavior, show
him the reward and see what happens. I am a very touchy person and I rub his back and hug him constantly to let him know I care about him. I have let him be my special helper. This has worked good but not as well as I want it to. He has earned points and he gets recognized by the principal periodically for his good behavior. His goal next week is to work on getting over half of his points

so he can go on a field trip with us to see The Polar Express. Sometimes all these kids need is someone like us to let them know that we care. you know the old saying, "Kill them with kindness" The little boy is not perfect and he never will be, nor will any of us, but he knows that I care for him and this has changed his behavior a great deal from last year. If all else fails, a little prayer wouldn't hurt!
