Word Wall Words
By TX Teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
Stephanie,

I try as much as possible to translate the third grade word wall words in English to Spanish. The ones that don't translate well I just leave off the list and substitute a high frequency word in its place. At
times if I am in that situation I will look through a story we're working on in Spanish and just pick a word that is used throughout the story. The way I look at it is that if there aren't any materials to use then you've got to use your best judgement and pick words you think are important for the kids to know.

If you have a French rhyming book you may be able to get ideas for making

your own activities such as "Using Words You Know." You can make your own "Making Words" activity by taking a French word and making words within the word. You could play "Wordo" and "Guess the Covered Word" easily too. It is a lot of work but these are things you can keep and reuse.

Let me know if you need more info.
