| the first thing is that you need to be in control.show the children that you are serious not being mean of course,i am an assistant teacher of a very difficult class of 4 year olds. one thing i do is turn the lights off and have everyone freeze like a statue this way you will have there attention and you can give them, directions for the next task.also you need to be there guide show them what you want them to do.ex-when a child mis behaves 1)you do not need to even use the time out appraoch try taking the child aside seperatley and telling the child calmly why that was wrong and give them as positive alternative.if this doesnt work talk to the head teacher or the director of your programand see what other useful hints they can give you on there tech nique of keeping the kids in a listening mode
