Mom's home on bed rest with a baby due in March - sounds to me if this is your problem. Bed rest usually indicates some problem in the pregnancy and while they may not have told this to the child he knows something is going on. In addition with Mom on bed rest he probably isn't geting to be too active around the house and may not be getting outside as much as he should.
He's five. He can't verbalize it so you get the behavior.
Do you have a school counselor who could work with you in setting up some type of reward system? Could the counselor see him one on one a few times ?
