I can't help remembering when I was a child in third grade and a boy in my class did the same thing. Kids never forgot this and the horrible names followed him through high school. These episodes that he had during elementary school still affected him throughout the years.

Obviously the father does not care that it a health concern to others and that it is disgusting, but doesn't he realize what this could do to his son socially and emotionally? I agree that Dad acting odd. I don't know many parents that would be so laid back about a problem like that.
