I Agree, Teachers are Often Too Busy
By Experienced Sub

Clip to ScrapBook
I wanted to emphasize what you said about teachers: they are very busy. I've found that when I extend a smile and hello first, I usually get one or the other back. If I wait for a weary teacher to acknowledge me first, I'd never get any kind of hi or nod/smile. You, as a sub, have to be assertive, but not overly assertive.

Another thing I do that seems to go over well with most teachers is a "sub report" I have typed out ready to fill in. It gives the teacher all the pertinent info he or she needs in one quick glance. It's a time saver for them. I know what they need to know because I have taught my own classes before. But I'm subbing this year due to budget cuts.
