Do you conference with your students, the time where you edit with them? If not, you need to start doing this. I would definitely make them write their stories over. Another thing, how can a story be 2 sentences? Explain that a story has a beginning, middle and an end. Use frequently used literature as an example. Honestly, my students are writing at least a page if not more on every writing assignment. Good Luck!!!
