Sorry too, but we didn't find it tacky. Many of our staff enjoy seeing the peson get married. It's their choice. You missed the point--people did not take it as an invitation to the wedding but not the reception. It was an opportunity to give people the option to share in their joy. These teachers did not have a self-important attitude when they opened their ceremony to anyone who wanted to attend. This also was extended to their students. I have never personally opted to attend a ceremony for a colleague whose reception I wasn't invited to, but that was MY choice.
