Unfortunately with our kids, the thing most valuable to most of them is taking away recess or sitting by themselves in lunch. For serious offenses I have the kids call their parents at home or work and explain why they are calling. Last year my friend and I set up an incentive program. They earned points for attendance, behavior, and homework. Every Friday they had a 30 minute Friday Fantasia - extra recess, game or movie time. They worked toward earning that each week.
If they turned their card in my class they had to sit when their class had recess or whatever I'd worked out with the other teacher. luckily, if I requested that her class or a child received some type of consequence she was supportive of that.
