I many times have questioned some of the "behaviors" that my ADHD and ASPERGERS students have.
My Aspergers child's paper work said "marginal" symptoms and almost every finding was "per parent". Mom is NEVER consistent
with anything, packs this child two lunches. I am not kidding you, one day she dropped off 3 10-piece chicken nuggets (why not drop off a whole chicken!), a super size fry, a super size Coke, and a hot fudge sundae. He is 9 years old! He never knows how he is getting home (car, bus, walker, daycare). She calls everyday around 3 to tell him. He consistenly "misplaces" his homework,

only to find out later that he went to see a movie and didn't do it. How in the heck are you helping your child who basically "freaks" with change when his life is never consistent????
My other student with ADHD is parented by a 26 year old mother and "boyfriend". The child is devistated that mom is divorced and that "mom and _____ sleep in the same room! His behavior is HORRIBLE and he is dying for attention. How is that parenting helping him at all with dealing with his disorder.
Granted there are many children with the above that are well taken care of,loved and doing the same sort of behaviors. I just know in my room, these children are not being "parented" and their disablilities are being magnified.
